Cold Cases – Frank Abdala

Frank Abdala

On August 29, 1990, a Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a large home on Hidden Valley Road in Carmel Valley. A concerned neighbor had noticed that Frank Abdala, a 52-year-old local real estate agent who lived alone, had not been seen outside his home for several weeks.

During a search of the house, the deputy found Frank bound and bludgeoned to death in one of his bedrooms. The initial investigation revealed that Frank had been murdered several weeks earlier, and property had been stolen. Over the years, an extensive investigation led to the identification of several potential suspects, but no direct evidence has linked anyone directly to the murder, and no arrests have been made.

A significant amount of physical evidence was collected during the original investigation, and some of it, when examined with modern forensics, may hold the key to solving this intimate murder. the possibility that the killer(s) left their DNA at the scene or on preserved evidence items kept at the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, is strong.
