Cold Cases – Richard Coleman

Richard Coleman
On March 4th, 1995, Richard Coleman, a 28-year-old resident of Pacific Grove, was found dead in his apartment on the 300 block of Grand Avenue. The incident occurred at 9:17 pm after an anonymous 911 call from a nearby payphone reported a possible medical emergency in the apartment.
Upon arrival, Pacific Grove police officers discovered that the front door had been forced open (a burglary had also taken place at the apartment days earlier). Officers found Richard’s body in the kitchen. He had been beaten and strangled to death, and it appeared as if there had been a struggle in the apartment. The anonymous caller has never been identified, and no arrests have been made in this case.
The DA’s Office Cold Case Task Force has been working with PGPD detectives on this investigation, and examining all possible items of physical evidence. It is possible that state-of-the-art DNA techniques may provide a link to Richard’s killer.
