Accessibility Statement

The Cold Case Project of Monterey County is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We work to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

What we do

  • Write text alternatives for meaningful images, including photos of the people and cases we highlight.
  • Use a logical heading structure, labeled form fields and a skip-to-content link.
  • Make the site usable with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Check color contrast for text, form fields and buttons.
  • Review the site for accessibility when we add or change content.

Known limitations

We are still working on a few areas:

  • Some older press releases and media documents in PDF form were produced by partner agencies and may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are replacing them with accessible versions. If you need one now, contact us and we will provide it in another format.
  • Donations are processed by the Community Foundation for Monterey County on its own website, which we do not control.
  • The presentation on our Information Center page is hosted by Prezi and may not work well with all assistive technology. Contact us for the same information in another format.
